The SLR Magic MicroPrime 25mm T1.5 is a cinema lens designed specifically for full-frame Sony E-mount cinema cameras and mirrorless cameras. It combines modern cinema-grade optical design with a unique vintage “old lens” character, delivering an image that is gentle yet full of depth, with high usability and a robust mechanical build.

● Color rendering: soft, rich, and pleasing:

The MicroPrime 25mm leans toward natural, neutral-to-warm color, helping to reduce the “overly sharp, overly cold” digital look on modern sensors. Skin tones are rendered with subtlety and depth, making it especially suitable for people-focused work such as interviews, weddings, and portrait-style video. Contrast is moderate—neither too punchy nor too flat—giving you plenty of flexibility for grading in post.

The ultra-fast T1.5 aperture creates a very shallow depth of field, allowing the subject to clearly “pop” from the background. With 13 aperture blades, the bokeh highlights are exceptionally round and smooth, and they retain a pleasing shape even when stopped down. The bokeh character is gentle and non-distracting, with a hint of classic cinema lens / vintage glass flavor.

● Image quality & look: cinematic with a touch of vintage:

At the wide T1.5 aperture, the image center is adequately sharp, while the edges have a subtle softness and atmospheric feel, giving a very cinematic look. Stopping down (T2.8–T4) brings an overall increase in sharpness and detail, making it well-suited for wide environmental shots, portraits with context, street shooting, and documentary work.

Its distinct “old lens feel” comes from slight edge softness, attractive glow, and a layered rendering that keeps the image from feeling sterile, instead giving it more mood and storytelling quality.
